3. Pronunciation Book, CD or VCD 汉语拼音学习书本、录音光碟或录影光碟。*note: you need a teacher to correct your mistakes.
4. You need to mix with Chinese-speaking people to learn to speak and practice.
5. Learn from viewing Chinese movies (best with Chinese subtitle), sing Chinese songs with karaOK，view and listen Chinese TV news.
6. Start reading Chinese newspapers if you gain some basic.
Please note that you must learn hanyu pinyin then you can catch up faster. Grammar in Chinese is not that important as in English. It is all common usage.
