L3: Why Hanyu Pinyin?汉语拼音

You learn hanyu pinyin, then you can use Chinese dictionaries(not to mention the old dictionaries), 现代汉语词典(商务出版)、现代汉语规范词典(李行健主编). You know how to pronounce if you know hanyu pinyin.

Hanyu pinyin has vowels and consonants too. It is easy to learn, but you need a teacher to guide you. You may pronounce the words wrongly or in a funny tone.

The Chinese Language vowels and consonants use alphabet a-z too, just for convenience, esp. typing, invented about 30 years ago. Symbols were used before that.
vowels: a e i o u
consonants:
b p m f
d t n l
g k h
j q x
c z s
ch zh sh
Why the consonants arrange in such manner? In 拼音符号, it was such, they belong to the same groups.

If you can pronounce the vowels and consonants correctly, then you can leap to 2nd chapter. Usually not. I can't teach you here. As I said, you need a CD or VCD on hanyu pinyin. Or I create one, maybe just a power point clip. It takes me time to prepare the materials, sure it will charge but at a reasonable price.
